sometimes don't you wish you could stop time?

the girls are growing up so quickly. nevaeh turned 4 this monday (july 6)! can't believe my baby is a little kid all of a sudden. she's starting to develop a greater interest in playing with friends than with me or mike. one of her fave friends is another nevaeh. daughter of an old friend of mine, rachel yahyahkeekoot. the nevaehs (as they are often coined) were born about 6 weeks apart. they are now good buddies, running around calling each other "ya ya". they are kind of opposites, and have a blast together.

nevaeh seems to have a bit of talent swimming. she hasn't taken lessons since she was a baby since she had so many complications due to her ears. but now she has discovered that she can swim underwater, swim being used very lightly- it's more like flailing. she now has a pair of goggles (or, water glasses as she calls them) so that she can see underwater. i'll have to enroll her in lessons soon, get that form smoothed out.

even naima is starting to be old enough to be friends with nevaeh. nevaeh is the only one who doesn't have to work to get a laugh out of her. she just does her crazy thing and naima giggles and giggles. the other day nevaeh insisted on bringing naima into the bath with her. it was great- she helped wash her and naima was more than entertained by her water antics. now when i take the girls to the park naima is happy to be plunked down in the swing. she usually just smiles and watches nevaeh. nevaeh even takes turns pushing her- with me yelling "gently! gently!" all the while.

i can't wait until they are old enough to really play together. although that also means fight together. my sister and i are best friends, and i always wanted to have my own girls. but it took us a long time, and a lot of fighting to get to where we are. but still, most of my best memories growing up are with lua.

so despite my best efforts the girls are growing up faster than i can document. nevaeh will likely be going to preschool this fall here in saskatoon. i don't know when we will be heading out to victoria now, but i am happy to be staying somewhere we are so surrounded by friends. until next time :D
